Program Options
Walcamp has been a place to to learn about God, nature, and community for the last fourty years. While some schools have made this their home for Outdoor Ed. during many of those years, other schools and groups have never led Outdoor Ed. before.
To best serve our guests, Walcamp offers three programing options to help your campers and staff get the most out of this experience.
Self-Program
Many veteran schools have the advantage of parents and teachers who have attended Outdoor Ed. before and are capable of leading themselves. Teachers can take initiative and set up schedules and activities -matching lessons to their own school curriculum. While some activities still require supervision by Walcamp staff, this program is run entirely by the school itself. Self programmed groups MUST email/fax a schedule to the office two weeks in advance to ensure that there are no schedule conflicts with other Walcamp guests.
Partial Program
This option blends the leadership of self-programming with the experienced instruction of Walcamp's staff. Teachers can lead lessons and activities that fit their curriculem, while advanced skills classes -or unfamilier subjects- are taught by a trained Walcamp instructor. Partial Programming is primarily supervised by the school, with one day (or more) programmed entirely by Walcamp. Partial-programming groups MUST email/fax a schedule and list of requested lessons to the office two weeks in advance.
Full Program
For those schools who are unable to conduct an Outdoor Ed.program themselves, there is an option for Walcamp to lead all the programming. Parents and teachers still supervise the campers, but the schedule and all lessons and activities are facilitated by Walcamp staff. Early notice is needed if you plan on Full Programming, and groups MUST email/fax a list of requested lessons to the office two weeks in advance.
